givenup
I grabbed my worn out shoes and wrinkled shorts Took a shirt from my closet floor It had that familiar stench of mens locker room My feet pounded the pavement with the rhythum of a bass drum In perfect timing /Right Left Thump Thump Right ................ The effusion of wet, smelly body odor pervaded my body Then, you appeared/ a chimera in the distance Both of us on the same path, we ran toward each other You had bright pink socks, with matching head band Tri-Color shoes, a splashing iridescent accent to your shorts And a tank top from Ab-a-Crobbie and Fitch???? or something Suddenly, the air was redolent with perfume One of us was incongruoue in attire/ or perhaps not As you passed by, I opened my lungs To take you all in, I felt a renaissance I attempted to smile, but you were too focused on the ground Or perhaps getting your hair done after the run Your body was etheral in flight Mellifuously, you passed by But what bemused me the most Was that I never really knew That the effeminate jogger Never even sweats gary/1990
