Johnny_has
Hi all, Now after I shave I get some red dots on my face, nothing major but none the less annoying. I don't know, I use shaving cream, and I shave in the right direction. Anyone know some special lotion or technique to stop this from happening? Thanks. P.S. I'm 20yrs old if that makes any difference.
enadevoli
i really have no idea...but it could be a reaction with your skin. your skin might be sensitive to the shaving cream you are using. you could try to use shaving cream for sensitive skin & see how that goes. eclipse
If they are razor bumps then you can buy a cream called 'bump stopper' sold at most pharmacies. The bumps come from a hair follicle growing under the skin and entering another pore in your face so you may need to tweeze the ones you already have now even if you can't see them before you apply creams. lauralied
I asked my doctor about razor burn, and I was told that it can be caused by an improper shaving motion. The correct technique is to shave in the direction hair grows, and then go back and shave over the area in the opposite direction (against the grain). Hope it helps
Waspi
are you using any after-shave?
greensleeves
Maybe try a shaving gel instead of foam, I think it's less irritating.
dragon lady
Make sure you use a good quality new blade. Shaving cream is good, but you really should follow with a moisturizer for sensitive skin. Also, try to only shave once every 2nd day. If you're doing it every day, then your skin might not have time to recover.
starpoint
Oh my god, I had this problem recently too. Except I am female and it occurred on my legs. About 2 weeks after shaving my legs with that nair cream they got very itchy. I saw tons of little blackish-reddish bumps all over my legs and assumed I must have caught something from the gym or other, because I'd never had a reaction to Nair. Looking closer at the bumps, i could see that they were actually hairs, under the skin. I'd never had this problem before so I looked it up online. Found out that exfoliators are very good for ingrown hairs. I went out and bought some high quality exfoliator and body butter, and within 3 to 4 days of exfoliating and moisturizing with the body butter, the itching is all but gone and the hairs are starting to come out. The key is to keep the skin moisturized and soft so that eventually the hairs will work their way out. I assume that my ingrown hairs were caused by me wearing somewhat tight jeans so soon after shaving and the constant walking I do around the city, coupled with me not moisturizing my legs enough. If this is indeed the issue you are having, I don't recommend pulling the hairs out yourself because that can lead to infection. Just go to a bath and body works type shop or even wal-mart and get some exfoliating facial wash and also a moisturizer to put on your face afterward. Good luck!
