JadedStar
When you believe (such as i do) that every person possesses male and female characteristics, with women having more traits classified as feminine and men more classified as masculine, but possessing BOTH and some having a bit mroe than others, then you dont really get caught up in specific gender differences or issues. I do not believe it can be proven, or at least hasn't been yet, any DISTINCT difference that is resoundingly the same in all cases, or even MOST cases. I know some men far more sensitive than some women, and some women who work like workhorses while some men are passive...its just all different personality types IMO vs specific gender roles or differences. I have a son and a daughter. My daughter excels in math and my son is the spelling genius. He was reading far ahead of his grade level while my daughter always was a little slower in linguistic activities. So that dispells the theory that math is something males are better in. And my son got the strong spelling skills from me, his mother who is a WOMAN, so i passed on what would be considered a stronger female trait to my son who is obviously male. As a matter of fact, my son inherited a great deal of my cerebral tendencies as in we think a lot alike, and excel in very similar things...whereas my daughter took after her father....if the differences in the sexes were this unique and consistent, it would seem logical that my son would have not inherited his mother's habits to such a large degree. So imagine hundreds of years lapsing, with kids taking after the opposite gender parent, and then vice versa with their own kids, and so on, what you have is a world full of people with a great deal of BOTH feminine and masculine traits. But this is always an interesting topic. I do agree there are SOME differences of course, but i do not believe anyone can really define EXACTLY what they are because people are all so different. Women are supposed to be nurturers, yet there is a thread on here about "why do you hate your mother" and in reading those overwhelming responses it is plain to see not ALL mother's are nurturers and far from it. I honestly think the only differences one can define in the sexes are the body parts. In my daughter's relationship, she changes the oil and he cleans the house. LOL Red Queen, this is a very interesting topic for debate. I am not sure why you seem to be getting heated because some discount the theories in those links? A good debate will bring about a great deal of viewpoints. Maybe it is the deleted posts that are making you upset?
JadedStar
OUTSTANDING POST! \\ You stated what I was getting at, but much more eloquently. lol
JadedStar
Great point Ellie. I'm so sick of these fact-ignoring PC-spewing fascists. Oh my god, I'm turning into my father...must...take...a...shower. Wow. I had not seen this post before creating mine. YOu just solidified the point I was trying to make! If there is such a definitive line that separates the sexes, you would not have inherited your father's tendencies. This really negates your theory. Women would not be predisposed to their father's tendencies if this were true. And your first statement, said with such force and anger, would be considered a male trait. And i feel I must add - i am not trying to rile you up here. Hopefully I can express a contrary opinion without it turning into an argument. I have no interest in arguing, just commenting on an interesting topic.
EvaGina
I am very masculine Although there are differences, its ridiulous to say that "all men love porn" and "all women want babies". men TEND to be most while women TEND to be more its like a ven diagram, with a HUGE overlap. You can't really put a lot of scientific fact into propensity.
