Spugly Fuglet
OK I know this is now Poetry but it looks like the best place to post this one. What are your fav song Lyrics heres mine Artist: Jane Siberry with k.d.lang Lyrics Song: Calling All Angels Lyrics Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, Santa Anna, Santa Susannah Santa Cecilia, Santa Copelia, Santa Domenica, Mary Angelica Frater Achad, Frater Pietro, Julianus, Petronilla Santa, Santos, Miroslaw, Vladimir and all the rest a man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries and high above the church bells start to ring and as the heaviness the body oh the heaviness settles in somewhere you can hear a mother sing then it's one foot then the other as you step out onto the road how much weight? how much weight? then it's how long? and how far? and how many times before it's too late? calling all angels calling all angels walk me through this one don't leave me alone calling all angels calling all angels we're cryin' and we're hurtin' and we're not sure why... and every day you gaze upon the sunset with such love and intensity it's almost...it's almost as if if you could only crack the code then you'd finally understand what this all means but if you could...do you think you would trade in all the pain and suffering? ah, but then you'd miss the beauty of the light upon this earth and the sweetness of the leaving calling all angels calling all angels walk me through this one don't leave me alone callin' all angels callin' all angels we're tryin' we're hopin' we're hurtin' we're lovin' we're cryin' we're callin' 'cause we're not sure how this goes

AwdreeHpburn
those are beautiful lyrics Spugly... I too have too many "favorites" but some current relative lyrics are from a song I totally blast and sing really, really loud to every time it comes on, here's the chorus and the part I relate to most... Its from a band called Tonic - You Wanted More I know its an older one but I'm sort of into it right now. I don't know when I got bitter but love is surely better when it's gone..... 'Cause you wanted more More than I could give More than I could handle In a life that I can't live You wanted more More than I could bear More than I could offer for a love that isn't there.... Legionnaire
I have always been enamored by the Tom Waits songs. His lyrics are always filled with wonderful imagery, cool metaphors.... My favorite singer/song writer. Artist- Tom Waits The Ghosts of Saturday Night A cab combs the snake, Tryin' to rake in that last night's fare, And a solitary sailor Who spends the facts of his life like small change on strangers... Paws his inside P-coat pocket for a welcome twenty-five cents, And the last bent butt from a package of Kents, As he dreams of a waitress with Maxwell House eyes And marmalade thighs with scrambled yellow hair. Her rhinestone-studded moniker says, "Irene" As she wipes the wisps of dishwater blonde from her eyes And the Texaco beacon burns on, The steel-belted attendant with a 'Ring and Valve Special'... Cryin' "Fill'er up and check that oil" "You know it could be a distributor and it could be a coil." The early mornin' final edition's on the stands, And that town cryer's cryin' there with nickels in his hands. Pigs in a blanket sixty-nine cents, Eggs - roll 'em over and a package of Kents, Adam and Eve on a log, you can sink 'em damn straight, Hash browns, hash browns, you know I can't be late. And the early dawn cracks out a carpet of diamond accross a cash crop car lot filled with twilight Coupe Devilles, Leaving the town in a-keeping Of the one who is sweeping Up the ghost of Saturday night... AwdreeHpburn
for the rest of my life?? One song? Never. There's no way I could listen to one song over and over and over for the rest of my life. I don't even want to think about that. I would totally freak if all the music, save for one song, disappeared. AHHH.... no way dude.
Daddy Bear
To dream the impossible dream ... To fight the unbeatable foe ... To bear with unbearable sorrow ... To run where the brave dare not go ... To right the unrightable wrong ... To love pure and chaste from afar ... To try when your arms are too weary ... To reach the unreachable star ... This is my quest, to follow that star ... No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ... To fight for the right, without question or pause ... To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause ... And I know if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest, That my heart will lie will lie peaceful and calm, when I'm laid to my rest ... And the world will be better for this: That one man, scorned and covered with scars, Still strove, with his last ounce of courage, To reach ... the unreachable star ... Daddy Bear
in that case Spug, i hope you won't mind if i have another go and post the lyrics to Simon and Garfunkel's classic "The Boxer", the only song that ever made me break down and cry at a concert (and i've been to many, many rock shows in my day)... I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told I have squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, Such are promises, all lies and jest, Still a man hears what he wants to hear And disregards the rest, hmmmm When I left my home and my family, I's no more than a boy In the company of strangers In the quiet of the railway station, runnin' scared, laying low, Seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go, Looking for the places only they would know. Asking only workman's wages, I come lookin' for a job, But I get no offers, Just a come-on from the wh***s on 7th Avenue. I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome I took some comfort there. Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin' evenly, And I'm older than I once was, younger than I'll be, that's not unusual Oh it isn't strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same, after changes, we are more or less the same. And I'm laying out my winter clothes and wishing I was gone, goin' home Where the New York City winters aren't bleedin' me, leadin' me, goin' home. In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him 'Til he cried out in his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving," but the fighter still remains.
