metaphor... poem

Mixed up emotions

50-50 on the game

Experts make it look easy

But that's their aim

You pull up a chair

No introduction to the table

Place your hand on your lap

Trying to look able

Dealer pulls out a card

No going back

You see a low number

The worst from the pack

Keep up the smiles

No eye contact made

He pulls out a similar hand

The smile begins to fade

You look over the table

And what do you see?

An amateur sitting accross

Doing the same as thee

You raise your head

Wait for the deal

The numbers come round

And an urge you feel

He pulls out an ace

To make it a run

You hands sweat with anticipation

The rush feels fun

Looking at your hand

And what you've put in

You're feeling quite lucky

This could be a win

Looking a bit eager

You show all your cards

But the amateur smiles at you

And hits back hard

She giggles with excitement

And puts the cards down

The smile from your face

Soon turns to a frown

She plucks up the courage

To make you a little speech

That the ones that looks unable

Definitely aren't weak
