byates5637
I wrote this last summer when my girlfriend broke up with me. We got back together but then just broke up again a few weeks ago. Woken up to the drum beat of my life Please stop screaming at me Slowly overcome with thoughts from my sleeping reality Trying to separate one world from another The fear of another day creeps up Frantically trying to return to where i just was "Beat beat beat" Yells the drum "No more sleep!" thuds the drum But the drum eventually quiets down Just in time for me to remember. The vague visions of you from the night The sweet whispers in my ear still echo The love struck gaze--picture on my wall God, Oh God, Please let me go

byates5637
Thanks I'm not much of a poet...i only write maybe 1 or 2 a year, and alot of the time i don't finish them. But now i'm feeling encouraged to try to write some more. -brandon
ShySoul
I really liked it Brandon. I also hope that you are doing well since your breakup.
Tesseract_Witch
Yes, the drumming is a powerful metaphor for awakening--very vivid, and cleverly chosen; everyone can relate to the awesome might of a drum.
