dpressedone89
I am about to enter a poetry contest, I reget to say the main reason is I need the money and im feeling like a bit of a sell out because my work is so personal but i have people dependant on me so i have no choice but to provide for them. I have written lots of poems and from what I'm told I am fairly talented. The poem I chose to submit, was too long so I intend to write a new one for the contest. I guess what I am looking for here is advice, what do you think the judges look for? Am I better off with a fake emotionless poem that is un-controversial? Some of my writing scares, disgusts, or just plain freaks out people. Any advice or input is much appreciated, and thank you all in advance always, -stitches
TheMailMan
i would say they would want something from the heart... depends on what kind of a contest it is and who would be judgeing it...
dpressedone89
its a normal contest, anything goes and the judges are from the international library of poetry,
Tigris
Are you allowed to enter more than once? If you are then I would send a variety of your poems. Good luck Hope you win
pizzachick13
depressedone89, your work is your own... you don't have to submit false feelings and un-controversial works just because some people are offended by it. Personally, I would put in a poem that really expresses who I am and to H*E*L*L with what the judges think. If it's as good as the one that was in Poetry that I replied to, then it's a sure fire winner Good luck Sappho...
