Physiotherapy

9 months ago, I was hit by a car. Got an accident after I went home from campus at night. It happened fast, but I am grateful that I was only injured by my left leg and not my whole body. I could have died or got into a coma honestly. Glad I didn't.

I did go to the hospital for 3x but the doctors only prescribed me jels and pills which is not enough. It only heals my leg temporarily.

So everytime if I walk in a far place, I get severe pain or I limp. I do have a crutch and only use it at home though. I would say my physical condition does affect me doing housework and catching up the bus. I couldn't run or jump. I couldn't carry heavy objects. Even resting in my apartment for the whole day is mundane.

Cleaning and taking out the trash is easy. what is not easy is when I sleep and it stings or it feels uncomfortable.

Do I need to check again? I genuinely do want to heal my injury, but it seems like no doctors are taking me seriously

Sorry to hear. Continue physical therapy and follow up with your doctor until your leg is healed. Look for a different doctor if your previous doctor wasn’t helpful.

That's my plan next month. Hopefully they will do something about it this time. I will tell them that I do not want pills anymore and just orthopedic treatment.

Be proactive with your general provider. Do you have one? Typically they will be the ones to refer you to the appropriate specialists (whether it's PT/OT/Orthopedic/Etc.)

They will initially try to treat it by reducing inflammation via meds but they will likely speed things up once you reveal your pain level is severe. ️Do you need a referral to seek a specialist? If so, get that. Don't wait until they do. ‍‍‍

You must have had diagnostic imaging/x-ray done initially? After 9 months, if the pain level is still severe, something has changed. You need another for comparison.

Yes, I did. I was told it's trauma. Might be a nerve damage. My muscle is torn. Last time I went to the hospital, it was quite expensive and one of my friends told me I will be alright in less than 4 months. Time has passed and there is still no improvement. The jel that I applied on my skin only helps sometimes and the pills, too.

There are times when I am fine and then I would have these flare ups that would sting sharply. It's uncomfortable for me to sleep everyday. It's like my leg is piled on rocks or something.

I can still do housework and try my best to still be productive by taking out the trash instead of my housemate, scrubbing the bathroom floor tiles, mopping, washing the windows, cleaning the laundry machine, toilet, walls, dusting, vaccuming, doing grocery shopping.

Although the consequences is that I will have the sharp pain again for several days. I was advised to rest and not go out a lot, but I couldn't help it sometimes. Even for a few days of staying in my apartment can be bleak for me. I would cry and dwell a lot on the past

The gel and the pills only provide temporary relief. Check in with a new doctor or specialist. Don't wait until the pain becomes unbearable. Take care of your health and seek proper treatment. I hope you feel better!
