Him throwing you out of the car like that is unforgivable.  Glad you ended things. 

I suffer from depression.  It makes me not want to do things.  It doesn't make me mean.  

In general substitute "depression" with another illness.  If he had cancer would you resent him for not wanting to come out or talk?  Probably not.  depression is an illness.  

That said when dealing with somebody who doesn't take ownership or responsibility for themselves, that is a clue that they may never be a good partner.  At that point you re-evaluate the whole relationship.  If your needs are ignored or belittled those are excellent reasons to get out.
