"Sleeping Arrangements"

Here's some silly verse of mine I just found this morning. I wrote it about twelve years ago, but had since forgotten it. I publish it here because I don't have time to copy it onto a bathroom stall. Though its stupid, I think it has a certain Wordsworthian quality to it.

When we sleep alone,

It's in mute anticipation;

When we sleep as two,

It's the soul's emancipation.

When we sleep as three,

We're like nestlings in a tree;

When we sleep as four,

We had better lock the door.

When we sleep as five,

We're bees in a buzzing hive;

But when we sleep as six,

We'd better start counting
