Upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy J7 prime and it has less features?

I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy J7 from a Galaxy Avant and noticed that I can no longer do on the new phone what I was able to do on the Avant which is

 

Blocking someone from sending you text messages without blocking their number. On the Avant I was able to put certain people's text messages in spam and they would automatically go to the spam folder

 

On the new phone you can only block someone from sending you a text if you block their number

 

I thought an upgrade meant..........."you can do MORE?
