I can assure you that getting married doesn't detract from any romance, whatsoever. I've been with my husband for 4.5 years, and we just got married last month. Our entire relationship has been wonderful: filled with love, silliness, security, friendship, etc...and now that we're married, there's something extra, something indefinable, that has actually made all of those things even stronger. As much as I knew we were committed for life before, as much as I knew he loved me and that I loved him, getting married turned out to be so much more than just that piece of paper.

 

If we'd never married, I'd have stayed with him, anyway - my life has been so incredibly joyful and happy with him in it, that it would've been insane to leave just because I wanted marriage (if he didn't). But the fact still remains that I'm so, so, so happy we did get married.
