Getting snipped at by my teenager for attempting to show an interest in his life (heaven forbid!)

I remember how I hated when my parents asked questions about school and classes when I was a teenager. And now that I see them twice a year, I miss them a lot!

I guess I was the same way! It was just so long ago for me! And it seems to happen if the parent doesn't get Every. Single. Detail. exactly as it should be... then the teen thinks we just don't pay attention!

Hide his car keys tomorrow, give him a good 'ol scramble for work!

LOL! So the thing is (1) he was in my bag to check something really important for me -whether the car seat is sufficiently inflated; and (2) there's a remote possibility that when I was cleaning up last night i kicked the umbrella behind the bicycle. So he actually did apologize but I'm just minorly annoyed.

I specifically don't ask my 10 year old -but then he spills it all when it's bedtime of course!

I think that’s better, my parents were strict about school and grades, so they wanted to know EVERYTHING. It stopped after high school, they barely knew what classes I took at university :D

I'm very strict about school and grades. We can check all that online if we want to. Asking him is counterproductive -it will stress him unnecessarily and decrease his motivation to work hard. Because I don't pry he shares a lot with me, always has. My parents cared a lot about grades too but they knew I did too so they trusted me to tell them (no online option back then!)

My dentist advised me to get some work done by a specialist. The "premier " dental insurance I pay for doesn't cover the office visit fee or either of the "new procedures " this specialist intends to do. Yep, cancelled that appointment. They expected several hundred dollars out of me!

Well, tooth pain and I will continue our relationship.

And yes, I get that dental work is expensive but that's why I pay for insurance. Didn't expect nothing would be covered.
