They said everyone my age was doing it.

They said it was perfectly safe.

They said it would be fun.

They said it would help me discover who I really was.

They said it was a great way to meet girls.

They said it was simply the thing to do.

They didn't say it would depress the hell out of me.

They didn't say it would ruin me financially.

They didn't say it would cause me to wake up feeling physically ill, four or five mornings a week.

They didn't say it would cause me to isolate myself from the world.

They didn't say it would waste hundreds of hours - valuable shards of my youth that I will never get back again.

This is a short prose poem about

Going to college.

College is a place where you learn new things

Esp. on how to find a new girlfriend

Where you can have many flings

Which will hurt you in the end

The time of your life is a time asleep

In class where you learn left wing propagnda

There is little knowledge you will actually keep

You will be as brainless as a sheep that says "baaaaa"

Learning things you will never use

Meeting people that you will eventually lose

Giving all your money away

Through high tutition you have to pay
