Cliché, but I remember like it was yesterday After all, it’s only the ancient history of 2 summers ago Since I met you that night Laughing at something, some joke So skinny your shorts were falling off Your head sprung a wild mop of curls You glowed ecstatic You colored me intrigued. We began and promptly ended Long weekend, fast friendship Flirtation, but no love at first sight I didn’t grow to know you well You kicked around a hacky sack I layed out on my beach towel Awkward kiss and easy goodbye Come morning I was bound east and you, west. Spoke to you a few times since They say nothing comes from nothing But company’s been a little dimmer Missed you more than I really had a right to Stings – like the sand dune that blew in my eyes Cold – like the afternoon you lent me your shirt Don’t know why you were such a memorable bip on the radar I pretend we’re destined to meet again.
