pippy longstocking
boudoir is about temptation , provoking the mind and is very seductive ..there is nothing open legged or see it all hanging out there like a road kill ... but it's still your parents ...so just don't discuss it anymore ...there are some things that parents don't need to know .. enjoy your session ( your not doing this to send to him still are you ?) you will feel sexy and beautiful . Miss Firecracker
What to expect? my parents think boudoir photography will make me look cheap they think it is the same as glamour modelling This isn't anything you should discuss with your parents. I am probably their age and would think it's very silly. Old people just don't get that type of thing.

Crazyaboutdogs
This isn't anything you should discuss with your parents. I am probably their age and would think it's very silly. Old people just don't get that type of thing. I hear you. I don't understand today's obsession with "let's pretend I am a Victoria's Secret model" or for those who like to send naked photos of themself or film themselves having sex "let's pretend I am a porn star". Even boudoir photos are not the kind of photos one would want floating around the universe...and since photos are now electronic, someone has a copy. So giving them to a boyfriend is a bad idea. One day he is your boyfriend, the next day he is not..and then he has these sexy photos he can accidentally leave lying around for his friends to see. Sure, there is no boyfriend now...but the intent was to give them to your boyfriend...so once you have these photos, and they will cost a pretty penny, it is very likely you will decide to give them to your next boyfriend. As for the boosting self-esteem...self-esteem should come from within, it shouldn't come from a bunch of contrived sexy poses that are pretty standard fare for any boudoir photo shoot. Having said all that, it is your life and your choice. If you want to do the photo shoot then do it and don't worry about what your parents think. Don't discuss it with them and don't show them. They will not change their opinion and you don't need their approval.
OptomisticGirl
I love boudoir photography, just another way for a photographer to be artistic. When I was thinking of doing it for a wedding present for our wedding the photographer I talked to said a lot of women do them after they have lost a lot of weight or even after a break up. It's nice to think self esteem should come from within but for some, that extra outside of confidence is the stepping stone to inner self confidence. sidehop
I think it's beautiful when done right but everyone has different taste; it's another form of art really.
John Cleary
There is a fine line between boudoir photography and glamour photography. Like sidehop says, done well it is beautiful and very tasteful. As a photographer myself I see first hand the massive empowering effect that it has on my clients... it is seeing their confidence blossom that makes it all worthwhile for me. Summerof85 make sure that you are happy with what you see on the photographers website. Your parents may not 'get it' but if they dont your shouldnt really let it put you off, its about you and how you feel. Assuming that you go ahead (if the photographer doesn't organise it) make sure you get your make up and hair professionally done first, it will make all of the difference. You will likely feel far more self confident after the photography session. I'm happy to offer any help or advice if you would like it, you can contact me through my website..just google jcboudoir Hope it goes well for you. My sister actually inspired me to do the photo shoot. As soon as she told me about boudoir photography los Angeles. My husband was so happy and amazed with the pictures and book. Timebandit
As a man this is perplexing to me. Maybe 36 is too old to understand this. How does having your picture taken affect ones confidence? I am a male - and 39 nonetheless. Not that perplexing to me. Many women feel a pressure to look good. I think this in part has to do with women (consciously or not) comparing themselves to the beautiful pictures of women seen in magazines, commercials etc.(often highly photoshopped or otherwise manipulated). Ask a woman if she feels she is beautiful, and you will often get a sad response. So having taken pictures of them by a professional photographer, that affirms their beauty and their femininity thus affects their self-esteem. OptomisticGirl
^ for me personally it's not about beauty, it's about feeling sexy. I know I'm a beautiful, but I struggle with the sexy part. But yes, you've hit it on the head none the less.

But yes, you've hit it on the head none the less. Interesting. I have always thought that a beautiful woman and a sexy woman is not necessarily the same thing (although they of course can be). I do think being sexy has a lot to do with feeling sexy and sensual. I'm digressing here ;-)
summerof85
I had to postpone them but I got them done on Thursday, go to see them on 5th September. The main reason I done it was because of my lack of confidence caused through a few things in my life e.g illness when I was a child, getting bullied at school and most recently getting dumped via facebook (happened in December) and I want to see myself in a sexy way. I hope they are worth it and I see myself in a sexy way rather than how I have been feeling alot recently.
