Why couldn't we just stay? We grew this friendship holding on to each other We let nothing stand in our way, this could last forever Through the bad times and the good, can they get any better? When did it all go away? Why couldn't we just stay? We fell apart and went our separate ways We never had time to tell each other just what we really had I wanted to tell you this through all of my days I loved you, my friend. I loved you, my friend We lost each other in an upside down world I was swept away by another but I still felt a void No one could take away the life we shared Now that I found you the mystery has been destroyed You said "it's taken me this long to realize The one true love I lost was you So now that the tears are falling from my eyes I want you to know, I have loved you too" "I love you, my friend" "I love you , my friend" Life took us away from each other How could we have let that happen to us I wish to God I could have back those years But I carry on (I'll carry on) As I fight back those tears (I'll carry on) Who would have thought we'd be feeling this way (now) Who would have thought we would carry on and say (now) I love you (my friend) I love you (my friend) Did you know...
