Yep, most of them will do that, try to tell you how special you are to them after they dump you, and how great of a friend you are. It's all a game to try and feel less guilty about what they did, to maintain their ego, so then they can go after a new guy who gives them that tingly feeling guilt-free. You know what the worst part is? They believe themselves, that's why it sounds so genuine, but their actions won't align with what they're saying. You're good to not fall for the trap, because I've fallen for it before, and it's probably the most torturous thing you can go through as a guy.
