Lady Rashomon
Ever done this after a breakup? It seems like splitting custody over a dog might be possible, but the animals in question are cats. Thoughts? Link to comment
fire2therain
I know my sister had an issue with her ex boyfriend over a dog that they got together. They ended up figuring an agreement without doing anything legal. I figure you could do it with cats too, they're no less of pets than dogs. Link to comment
OptomisticGirl
Eh. My ex took one cat, I took another. Link to comment
Applewhite
Unless you come between a verbal agreement (outside a court room) no. From what little I know, the law considered pets as property so any rights belong to the owner (whomever can prove they paid for/adopted the pet). Link to comment
Lady Rashomon
These are two cats who've pretty much grown up together since they were kittens. The idea of splitting them up is heartbreaking, but I wonder if I'm being too sensitive/am projecting some of my own emotional stuff by assuming they'd miss each other terribly. For the time being, they're staying with my ex because I can't have two pets. I am closer to one, he is closer to the other--but for me, the issue is their happiness. Link to comment
Superstar100x
I'm glad that you're putting your pets needs above your emotional ones. I think whatever is the best for your pets is the decision that will have to stick. Link to comment
OptomisticGirl
I took my cat a while to get use to not having the other cat around but really, cats seer loners. We think they need compansionshop and sure, sometimes theyndo, but over all they are s loner animal. They like to be the head of the house. Link to comment
