RTalavera
My Mom has had Alzheimers since 1996. She has forgotten how to cough, and has alot of phlegm in her chest right now. I am inducing coughing by inserting my finger down her throat and pressing down on her stomach, but it is only providing limited amounts of coughing and phlegm release. I can't find information anywhere on how to make her cough!!! Please, if anyone can help me, please write. I don't want to take her to the hospital again; the last time I did that, they gave her a medicine that caused a stroke and took away her ability to walk. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help on how to clear her lungs of the phlegm. Link to comment
livia_eve25
Although I can't help you, I would like to offer my condolences, my grandfather is diagnosed with Alzhiemers, and I know how hard it can be. Good luck with everything, and if you need to talk, look me up~!~ Link to comment
Tinkerbell
Although I can't help you either, I'd also like to say how sorry I am that your mother is ill. Perhaps call a hospital anonymously and ask them what you should do? Link to comment
RTalavera
I appreciate the support. I've felt really overwhelmed tonight with this phlegm situation. It really helps to read messages like this. God bless you! Link to comment
JonnyG
I would suggest getting a check up with the local GP and asking for tips from him. You have my sympathies as well. My mum works at an old persons nursing home and sees this disease a lot, its really a depressing thing. Link to comment
