ionno
It's not done and I still have some editing to do, but here it is. I'd also be interested in what you think it is about. It’s been eight long years since you left us Is it time for you to finally come home? All these years you’ve been missing Could’ve sworn I’d seen you around Glimpses in the living room Sometimes sitting at the dinner table But then a blink and you vanished from sight I can’t recall the details of that night All I can remember were the tail lights Glowing bright red in the night Reflecting off the wet paved street And a few days later A stranger stepped in our door Someone I had never seen before Unfortunately I’d get to know him all too well These long years you were gone I couldn’t help but lose myself You weren’t here to guide me The thing that took your place Only tore me apart And laughed as I tried to pick up the pieces Unfortunately life dictates That you can’t make something Out of nothing Now that you’re here There’s so much to say You missed all the opportunities Now your precious little boy Is teetering on the edge And it looks like he might fall And, tragically, you were always too far To catch him
honesttoblog
This is really good, and actually quite inspiring! I especially like this stanza, because it's relatable to a lot of people, These long years you were gone I couldn’t help but lose myself You weren’t here to guide me The thing that took your place Only tore me apart And laughed as I tried to pick up the pieces Unfortunately life dictates That you can’t make something Out of nothing Thank you for writing it!
