Double J
I'm scheduled to sit down with my supervisor this week for my one year meeting/evaluation. Before even thinking about asking for a raise, I decided to ask a co-worker if he knew whether anyone else had received a raise upon completing a year. He said yes and confirmed that nearly everyone he asked had received one. I feel that knowing this gives me some ammunition - now my supervisor can't use "the company currently has a freeze on raises" as an excuse. Is it OK to bring this up tactfully? If my boss says he isn't giving me a raise, do I have a right to know why? Should I go into the meeting with a list of first-year highlights/accomplishments? Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance. anggrace
I would give him the chance to offer you one before you ask for one. Im guessing that was your plan but wasn't sure. I think it's perfectly okay to ask why if he says no. Id think he would give you a reason though. I haven't heard of anyone not getting a raise w/ no explanation.
