He has had his moments, Adrift in Soho is an excellent semi-autobiographical novel; Space Vampires, The schoolgirl murders and even Spider world are hugely enjoyable. Though the latter is very silly with it. I think he, in his ever so modest way, thought hi Spider world books would rival the LOTR trilogy. They didn’t.
