Dale Carnegie

Has anyone ever read "how to win friends & influence people" by Dale Carnegie? Do you think it is easy to apply the principles written in this book to your daily lives and relations with family and friends?

I just began the part one which Dale Carnegie advocates that we should never criticize and condemn anyone because as he says "Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him strive to justify himself. Criticism is dangerous because it wounds a person's precious pride, hurts his sense of importance and arouses resentment."

But let's say, what would you do if you were in a situation where you were being abused( both physically and mentally). Would you critize and fight back the person abusing you or take a different approach to solve this problem?

So instread of cirticizing people, what would you do to soulve the problem without criticizing and offending them? thank you.
