Dawn has broken.

The dark night is receding.

Yesterday was sad, but today is a new day.

Even though yesterday had its good memories

Even though yesterday had its bad memories

Today is a new day, a clean slate

So I begin anew,

My healing heart leaping

At the sight of the rising sun.

 

Yes, the rising sun is showing

Glimpses of the beautiful day to come.

Because I have made it through the dark night

And into the glorious light.

As the black sky turns to blue

My heart has healed anew.

 

Yesterday has its moments

But Im living for today, yes I am.

Even though the memories of yesterday

Will still be by my side.

They haunt me no longer

I will give them no place in my heart

Where they can hide.

 

Yes, the day has finally come

The gentle breeze of the day

Gently blowing past me.

The rays of the sun

Kissing my face,

Spreading their warmth

O beautiful day,

You have healed me.

I will no longer cry.

My hopes are as wide and broad

As the wide blue sky.
