LisS1001
On Our Own We spend the hours slaving away To prove to the world we can make it through the day We hide our faults, conceal the truth Underneath it all is our only proof We make them want us more and more But beyond all that is false is a closed, bolted door We lie to ourselves to be loved for an hour To give us a sense of false hope and power We turn from Jesus cause He "won't understand" So a stupid boy will hold our hand We need to wipe off our faces and change our clothes To show the world we can make it on our own ------ So i'm gonna write a poem now So i'm gonna write a poem now Nothing too soft or sweet Not one of those poems about love or peace Just the kinda poem that makes me me So i'm gonna write a poem now If only i knew where to start Nothing too plain or cliche But nothing too happy or bright So i'm gonna write a poem now I wonder what to say Or should i just put my pen down And write another day So i'm gonna write a poem now Not another poem about you I'm really getting sick of those I think you are too
