Being Laid Off

We got an email at work today basically saying the company will be downsizing, my question is how does unemployment work? What are some of the guidelines when determining how much you can get?

I really don't know hon.

 

My best advice to you is to contact your local unemployment office.

 

Maybe your company will give you some information.

 

Are you part of a Union? If so, they should provide you with information.

 

I am very very sorry to hear about this, especially with the economy the way it is.

That link is the handbook given to FL residents... you get benefits for 26 weeks, and the calculation you use to determine how much you'll get is in that booklet.
