Double J
Greetings, Recently I had a job interview with a company for a job I was interested in. Unfortunately, they hired someone who used to work there for the position. However, the guy told me he wanted to bring me again for another interview -- his department was opening a 2nd position, which would report directly to him (the first position reported to someone else). Over the past week or two he had been a bit flaky. He said he'd call last week to set up the 2nd interview but I never heard from him. Finally, he e-mailed me today with a formal job description. He explained that he's been really tied up - his wife recently gave birth. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take a Congratulations card to the interview and give it to him. Aside from being a good gesture, I feel it might help me out. But I want to ask you guys just to make sure. I don't want him thinking I'm just doing it to kiss up to him and get the job. melrich
No I would not take a card. If it was me interviewing you I would feel very awkward about receiving a card from you. I simple verbal congratulations is all that is required.
BeStrongBeHappy
No, cards are for people you are close to or know better. Just congratulate him and ask him a few questions about how his wife and baby are doing...
jenny_mcs
Don't bring a card- it's not appropriate. Just offer your congratulations when you go in to interview.
