Daedalus's Last Prayer

Dreamingly we see,

a sea of change

with the sun high above;

I forbid you to fly too close.

Listen to me my boy,

You and I will soon

merge with the sky,

but beware of

your feathers, cherish

them and never

give in to the heat,

or you shall surely

end up in a crumpled heap

washed ashore by my feet.

Now fly Icarus! Fly!

I will pray to see again,

waiting for me,

on the other side.
