Standing on the edge of a never-ending abyss, the roaring wind coming from an unknown source and a vast expanse in front of him, the man felt the rush of emotion that hit his body like a ton of bricks. Tears streamed down his face as he tried to come to terms with the situation. He was done being pulled down by the weight of his emotions. No matter how hard he tried to keep them in check, the force kept him spinning in circles, trying but failing to find his way out. It was enough. He had to make it stop.
The first thing the man did was take a step back and take a deep breath. He knew he had to get full control of his emotions to get out of this mess and process through the situation. Taking a few more steps back until he felt safe, he closed his eyes and let the thoughts tumble out. Not everything made sense right away, but he knew that with some deep contemplation and unbiased analysis, he would get to the bottom of it all.

It can be anything – a room in your home, a park, your favourite coffee shop. Whatever works for you – go there and just be with your thoughts.
Most importantly, listen to yourself and acknowledge your emotions. Don't bottle up your feelings or try to deny them – they are valid and are important to work through. As your mind begins to explore, allow the information to lead your path. When you put the pieces together and view your issue from multiple angles, the clarity will slowly reveal itself and the fog will start to lift.
No matter what it is you're going through, it's important to remember that sometimes taking a step back is exactly what you need. Distance yourself, pay attention to yourself, and take the time that you need to truly understand and process your emotions. Give yourself the gift of inner peace and acceptance. Your emotions are valid, and understanding and addressing them is the most important step towards healing.
