Steve Madden Ltd., a leading designer and marketer of fashion footwear and accessories for women, men and kids, has announced last week that the brand launching a women's fashion jewelry line in collaboration with the design company Lucas Design International, a 12-year-old firm that manufactures baubles inspired by Hollywood and pop culture.
The Long Island City-based footwear and accessories fashion house Steve Madden is the latest retailer to jump on the fashion jewelry bandwagon, after J. Crew and Banana Republic. "This is the first jewelry line we have had - we are excited about it," said Edward Rosenfeld, Steve Madden's chief executive officer. Rosenfeld noted that the new collection of fashion jewelry is a great complement to the categories the brand already sells. The new line is the company's first attempt at jewelry design in its 20-year history.
Jewelry designs will consist of a variety of real and of costume jewelry based on the latest trends in pop culture and film. According to Daniel Landver, the chief executive officer of Lucas Design International, in today's challenging economy, very few products help a woman differentiate herself more than her accessories, and in particular her shoes and jewelry. Mr. Landver also said that his company is very excited for the opportunity to create unique fashion jewelry for the Steve Madden customers.
Priced very affordably, most items of the collection will be retailed for as little as $50 and will not exceed $300. From a sneak preview of the collection's hottest exclusive items, it is possible to say now that it will feature the cuffs and bracelets with chain detail, leather and some serious bling, courtesy of crystal embellishments. Prices for these specific items will range from $39.99 to $69.99. However, it does not stop there, the line also includes a full range of rings and necklaces intended to reflect the aesthetic of the Steve Madden shoe line.
The new collection is set to hit the shelves beginning the fall 2010. The line will be sold at high-end department stores and specialty retailers, as well as in Steve Madden stores and online at SteveMadden.com.
